WoD - Monday 2nd June, 2025

McCoy,

You were a warrior.
You were a wonderful father.
You were a devoted mentor.
You were, for those lucky enough to call you, a brother.
And, I will always celebrate you.

McCoy had battled complex PTSD for the majority of his adult life and yet was always described by any who met him as a beacon of light. Possessing a warmth, a kindness and a smile that would light up any room.
He fooled everyone, even those closest to him and on the very rare occasions when he did ask for help, was more concerned about being a burden.

After nearly 20 years McCoy finally lost his fight with his own mind, and on the 8th of March, in solitude committed suicide.

In doing so he has left a void in this world that will never be filled. McCoy will never be replaced, I will miss him dearly.

To McCoy good was never good enough, he was relentless in his pursuit of excellence and yet, was entirely humble in doing so. A truly rare trait.
If I am ever capable of being half as strong, half as talented, half as passionate and half of the man he was, I will consider myself complete.

He will continue to influence me, every day, I will never forget him.

Never did I think I would ever have to write this post. We can all learn something from his passing, not all scars are visible. McCoy was an expert in hiding his pain and we can all commit further to each other.
I never thought that my last interaction with him would be my last.

McCoy my friend, you will never know how much you were loved and just how much you will be missed.
May you now, finally be at peace.

She only went and f**king did it! Team AOD 9th place and in a qualification spot for the 2025 CrossFit Games! How insanely COOL! Kerri is in London for the week but when you see her give her a massive high five for an unbelievable achievement.
The team put out amazing performances and were true pro’s right up until the final rep. Legends!

Tomorrow we see a very cool workout which, has a story (for the original story, click here). Adopted by McCoy Turner and his closest mate Karl Thorpe and turned into a partner workout, they did it every year together until he died.
This workout was programmed for a memorial workout the day of Topsy’s funeral and now at CrossFit Cardiff in order to mark the completion of raising £42,000 in order to fund his two sons through university.

It hurts, but that is entirely the point.
